Finding Your Voice

A Guided Meditation with Dr Greg (≈12 minutes)

Your voice doesn’t have
to be the loudest in the room.

Most of us didn’t lose our voice. We put it down. Somewhere along the way we learned that saying the smaller version of the thing kept the room comfortable, so we made our ideas a little quieter, questioned what we already knew, let the disagreement pass, and put someone else’s ease ahead of our own.

It doesn't mean it's a failure. Silence often did something useful: it protected you, it preserved harmony, it kept you belonging. This month’s meditation simply asks you to look at it honestly; where you speak freely, where you hold back, and whether the reasons you first went quiet still hold.

From there he turns towards what’s already yours. Calm and grounded. Clear without being harsh. Confident without needing to dominate. As he puts it, you don’t have to build this voice.. you’re learning to hear it, and trust it, once more.

There’s nothing to prepare and nothing to get right. Find a comfortable seat, close your eyes, and let the twelve minutes do their quiet work.

When you’re ready, open your journal to this month’s practice: the Bold Truth Letter. Write an unfiltered letter to someone, saying exactly what you’ve been holding back. You don’t have to send it; the letter is there so you can find out what you actually think. When you’ve sat with what needs to be said, you can destroy it; some people burn it, and if you do, please be safe about it! – or, if it is safe and appropriate, have the conversation itself.

In Dr Greg’s words: “Your powerful voice does not need to be the loudest voice in the room. It is powerful because it is connected to who you truly are.”
